I would go anywhere, as long as we're going up - John Maxwell

I have probably said this enough times in this website to make you keel over and say a quick silent prayer...'please don't let her say that she's working from home...again...and tell us about what a sacrifice it is for her to give up her career and all that'.

I'll spare you all that.

I draw a lot of inspiration from all the things about me actually. From the falling leaves in the padang (playground) when I am running around with my kids, to the dog trying to contemplate whether wheezing down the slide is a good idea to the leaking pipe in the bathroom or simply just Joshua trying to bug me about playing the computer again.

There's inspiration to be drawn everywhere and in order to be creative, we have to be willing to draw on those inspiration.

I am a graphic designer and writer who is currently working from home....THERE, I went and said it again....but too bad.

Please take the time to view my portfolio and if you would like to, maybe you can share some of your thoughts on them with me. I'd love to hear from you about them...good or bad. But don't crush me ok? My ego is a very fragile one but occassional bashing is good for the creative mind...

PETER PAN COSTUME
This is the first costume I have ever made. The material is SATIN which is a tough material to work with as a newbie, you know. I didn't. So, I struggled for a while with the seams and how to actually get the material to stay put while I sew!!

PETER PAN COSTUME
In the beginning, he wasn't too happy about being made to wear it but after we informed him that he was supposed to be Peter Pan or an elf, he was happier.

Daddy gave him a ruler and told him not to slay us all and he was jubilant about DECIDING to keep the clothes on!!

FOOTPRINTS TEE-SHIRT
Painting this tee was FUN cause it was all the same, footprints, footprints, footprints all over the place.

I bought a simple plain white tee-shirt from this place where they sell it (it's REALLY hard to find) and just painted right on it.

FOOTPRINTS TEE-SHIRT
This is the back portion of the footprints tee before. I simply wrote the letters J and T because there is a problem when I write "Joshua" or "Jared" on it.

If I write "JOSHUA", when he pases the shirt on to JARED, JARED would be wearing a shirt with a name that is not his.

With JT, both can wear it timelessly because that's initials of my sons.

JARED IN FOOTPRINTS
The final result and modeling session!I added glittering dark gray or black glitters for magnetic effect. It looks really classy if there's not too much glitter on it.

Going overboard with glitter can hurt the eyes and the tee could end up looking cap-palang or something.

YELLOW FLORAL
I was supposed to MAKE BumbleBee costume with the Satin Yellow cloth that I bought (the portion in the middle) but then after finishing it, I realized I didn't take into account the fact that Jared wears pampers when he's OUT!!! So, he didn't fit.

So, I bought some more floral printed cloths and made myself a blouse.

BOY RUNNING TEE
The boy running idea is not mine. Before I painted this, I drew some ideas out on paper with Joshua and he chose this one.

So, he was the one who wanted "Boy running" instead of something cooler like a train or car or boat capsizing.

SUMO WRESTLER
Frankly, I thought this was a SUMO WRESTLER costume. But apparently, someone mentioned TEPPANYAKI and I went like...."Urm, you know, I did think it looked like a TEPPANYAKI MASTER costume.

I didn't make this costume but it looked so good on JARED that I decided to feature it here anyway. The make of this costume is SO EASY. So many pieces of cloth and putting it together, that's all.

WHITE BLOUSE BUTTERFLIES
Started painting with glitters, experimented with paint now. The concept is the butterflies are either butterflies or flowers.

Eitherway, it looks kind of cool. I tested out washing and drying it and the color stayed put and it didn't even loose the nice feel to the glitters that I added on as antennas.

The colours remain vibrant and shiny.

BROWN BLOUSE - 3 FLOWERS
The colours were fine on white but what about on darker colours?

Here, I tested it out.

The paint colours were faded and did not come out as good but the SILVER and GOLD glitters were GREAT. It went fantastically well with the faded painted colours.

Red Flowers Print

Ok, I took a white blouse I was tired of wearing and decided to do something with it. This is a shirt I wear to sleep, ok? And I made it good enough to wear out to the streets. Hurray for me! I am no Versace or Gucci (whatever the name of the designer is) yet, but hey, this is good for the soul, don't you think?

Dino Design

Guess where I got my inspiration. No prizes for guessing, though. Yes, through my kids, of course. Like all other boys their age, they are obcessed with this ancient creature, driving me bananas with their request to be chased around the room. Gee whiz, I wonder what the neighbors actually think of a pony-tailed dinosaur roaring ferociously in the middle of the night? Hhhmmm....but I guess I don't care, huh?

Isn't this a nifty one? Don't like the red hair, though. That was a mistake.
