Bye Bye Poo :: 23rd April 2004

There is nothing cuter and more astounding than watching a toddler squeeze remnants of yesterday's dinner out of his system down the toilet bowl and then waving bye-bye to it.

I was informed by my maid that at around 10.30p.m. to about 11.00p.m., Jared would ask to go to the bathroom to clear his bowels. True enough, that's precisely what happened tonight. Since kakak was downstairs making their milk, I took Jed's diapers off and we sat there, singing the 'uhm-uhm' song. I have forgotten how sweet and fun this can be - we sing and then make the uhn-uhm sound together, loud and then softer, and then loud again. Then his nose would turn red and he would really start…you know, pushing it out.

As he did his business, he was also counting the number of 'poos' coming out. He would half-stand on the throne and stare into the murky water and start counting the number of poos he proudly produced. He counted to eight, but I saw nothing but…you know.

So, he finished his business and after cleaning up, he was standing there beside the toilet bowl, waiting for me to wash my hands. He did one of the cutest thing imaginable…he started waving to the poos spinning around in the bowl after we flushed it. He was enthusiastic about it too - like he was saying, 'Bye-bye, uhn uhm. See you later. Bye-bye. See you. Bye-bye'. He wouldn't stop waving long enough to let me wear his diapers back for him.

Ends up, he went to sleep without his diapers on, I forgot about it…and he ends up creating a big patch of wee-wee for me to sleep on.

But Jed's not all about making a big mess in the toilet and on the bed for me to clean. There's really, truly so much more to this toddler than I can remember. Isn't it strange that you remember every single detail about the very day your first child took his or her first step or burped his or her first burp, broke the firth tooth and taking his first spoonful of solids? And yet, we tend to forget things like….did he/she get his Immunization yet? Kidding, I am not. I have to call Jed's doctor to ask her whether it was time for his next jab when in actual fact, I should have that darn card (you know, the reminder thing) stashed somewhere underneath the pile of rubbish I fervently call my work.

Eventhough my memory and attention is a little rough around the edges when it comes to the finer details about raising my second son, I appreciate Jed a whole lot more now than before.

Why? It's simple. Jed is a lot like me. He's got a pleasant disposition and have the same devil-may-care attitude to life that makes it so much fun to just…you know, bum around with him. It's like being around your bestfriend.

While Josh was in school, I took Jed out because I wanted to get myself a new printer. My old one was printing out some letters and then leaving out some….this proved to be not too efficient cause I ended up going through the entire letter again and filling in the blanks.

By the time I was ready to send the letter, I would have realized that I have written something wrong somewhere and have to throw the letter away. The cycle repeats itself….

Well, I took Jed out to get the printer and at first, I thought it was a mistake cause not only is he a curious little toddler but he's a FAST curious toddler. I was asking the guy behind the games counter "Do you think a boy around the age of 4 knows how to….Jared!". Then at the groceries counter, "Miss, do you think you have this brand of tissue paper that….Jared!". And then at the pharmacy, "Miss, I need a prescription for a irritating cough that is driving me….Jed!!!" He's off here and then there and it doesn't help much that he has this fascination with the escalator. He would dive for every escalator he sees and also press every up and down button he sees on the lift. Man, it's a tough job running after this kid - and I am thinking about reviewing his kakak's salary.

But the fun thing is that we're laughing all the way. Jared, believe it or not, have the ability to make others laugh even when you're fuming mad at him. It's amazing. Just one smile, a single cock of an eyebrow or he would just frown and thenhis eyes really big like he's in shock. Like he's saying, "Hey, why are you mad at me?(frown) Huh? You mean what I did was wrong?(shock)".

Whenever I am with him, I am always laughing and giggling like a little kid cause he share so many of my traits…let's just hope he doesn't share too much of me that I don't like.

Yeah right.
